The origins of Polo

Polo started its journey in South Africa during 1976, with a little factory based in Landsdowne. The Owner Gordon Joffe established the company alongside partners Freddie Barnet, Ronnie Lange, and Stuart Shub. The Polo golf shirt was quickly renowned as a high quality product and soon the label of Polo mens shirts expanded in 1978 to international markets manufacturing shirts for Christian Dior and Lanvin and distributing the Polo brand to UK and Switzerland. In 1979 it expanded the menswear range and incorporated Polo womens wear. Today the company specialises in men, women and childrens wear with flagship stores located throughout the country and in parts of the Sub-Saharan.
