The origins of Kia
Kia is known to be one of South Koreas largest car manunfacturers and was founded in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry, at the time a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts. The name change occurred in 1952 to Kia, and took to building Honda-licensed small motorcycles. 1973 Marked the step towards car manufacturing, when the company acquired its automotive assembly plant. There are 10 countries housing 15 Kia vehicle manufacturing plants, and Kia dealerships throughout the world including several in South Africa.
