The origins of Ocean Basket
Ocean Basket began its journey in 1995 by two business partners who had opened the very first store in Menlyn Pretoria. At the time, seafood restaurants were mainly reserved for the wealthy, but Fats Lazarides saw an opportunity to change that, he saw a chance to let everyone from various walks of life experience great tasting seafood that goes beyond line fish. In 2002 a milestone of 50 outlets were reached and today there are 163 stores in total, and of that, 14 stores spans across SAs borders with the international branches located in Zambia, Botswana, Nigeria, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mauritius, Cyprus and Dubai.
