About LOccitane

LOccitanes journey began with the knowledge of a young 23 year old boy from France called Olivier Baussan who had comprehensive knowledge of plants and began distilling Rosemary essential oil to sell on the local markets. In 1976, Olivier utilised a traditional Marsielle way of making soap and used an old soap factory to achieve this. Through the years Olivier learnt more ways of creating products such as Shea butter he learnt from the locals in Burkina Fasso Africa, and several other products where manufactured and by 1992 LOccitane opened its own boutique in Paris. 1996 Saw more boutiques opening in Hong Kong and America and 1997 also marked the fact that LOccitane was the first ever company to use Braille on their product labelling. Today there are more than 2,000 LOccitane stores across the world.
