The origins of Tile Africa
Tile Africa began its success with a passionate entrepreneur; Italian born Vincent Leonardi immigrated to South Africa in 1956. He worked as a general manager for the Victoria Hotel based in Johannesburg and later explored a different venture that began the birth of a thriving tile company. Whilst he spent time in Namibia, he founded "The Standard Concrete Works" where the first tiles was inspired, Leonardi then manufactured and sold Terazzo Tiles, marble and cladding. The very first Tile Africa showroom opened its doors in 1978 and the company had various major clients and business relations such as with Pick n Pay and Sun City. In 1983 the first Tile Africa Cash and Carry was opened. The company is part of the Norcros Group and services commercial and domestic industries.
