About Chamberlain
Modern-day Chamberlain is just as committed to being South Africa’s most trusted hardware store as it was back in the day. But one of the main differences is the more widespread range of services and products available to clients, including hand tools, lighting and electrical, garden and outdoor, and more. And since it’s the 21st century, Chamberlain also knows how to keep it eco-friendly, since the brand already moved into its first green building in 2017 as part of their mission to save the planet.
To see what specials from Chamberlain you’ve been missing out on, catch up with Tiendeo’s newest online catalogues for the latest discounts, updated trading hours, and more.
The History of Chamberlain
The well-known Chamberlain hardware- and home improvement brand, which has been operating in South Africa since 1903, opened its first store in Riviera, north-east of Pretoria. Founder Frank Chamberlain, who was assisted by his nephew Frank Herbert Chamberlain from 1926 onwards, continued building up his company until his death in 1944. Inheriting his uncle’s empire, Frank Herbert continued growing the business during the Great Depression and even recorded a profit in 1944.
The Chamberlain business really got a boost in the 1950s when the South African building industry took off – and since then, it’s been going from strength to strength thanks to the original founder’s credo of integrity, hard work, and progress with caution.
Famous for hardware since 1903, Chamberlain knows how to keep clients satisfied by keeping updated with contemporary customer perks. That is why Tiendeo’s catalogues and online specials are just a taste of what to expect when shopping at Chamberlain.
