The origins of Stodels
Stodels began its journey in 1962 when Robert Stodel took a chance and left his corporate job to pursue a dream of a gardening business. Stodels began from true humble beginnings which included mail orders from a catalogue, door-to-door visits and also Robert selling his products out the back of his van in Garden Parade. Later on and with much hard work, he was able to open the first Stodels garden centre in in Garden Centre, Kenilworth South Africa during 1968. Another branch was opened in 1973 in Bellville which is where the companys head office is currently located, and several more Stodels branches followed. In 2006 Nick Stodel, Roberts son took over the family business continuing his dads vision along with bringing traits of his own which together creates an even better company. Nick has also been appointed President of the South African Nursery Association during 2010 and was also the first ever to be elected President of The International Garden Centre Association during 2011 from Africas Southern Hemisphere. All of these are clear indications of Stodels remarkable achievements and dedication.
